By the way, it is done easily without much effort! All you need is just a small piece of your fantasy and creative ideas, and great results will be your reward!
- Wadded pads – 2 pieces
- Spirit or nail-polish remover (but spirit is better because it vanishes quicker)
- Glass contour (blue, golden, silver, black)
- Jar with water (to wash the brush)
- Stained-glass paints
Here is our cup. It is a bit dusty and dirty. It is not good to start working with the dirty glass because in this case the image will start peeling off. The paint will not fix well and the whole process in general will not be enjoyable for you. So the first thing we do is cleaning the cup.
Cleanse the clean cup with the spirit or nail-polish remover. But the nail-polish remover smells too intensively and does not vanish as quickly as the spirit does. So spirit would be more suitable. In addition spirit will help you if you made some wrong line with the paint: the spirit removes it easily. So have a Q-tip ready to serve you for this purpose.
You shall hold the cup in your hand the way it is shown at the picture. It will allow applying the image you wish without getting dirty or wiping off the pattern. As you can see on the picture, I have already done the first pattern. I decided to paint such free patterns by hand. Remember, apply sufficient quantity of the contour make the lines thick. Later you will see why we need it.
As you can see I keep on painting patterns by hand. I added some inner lines to make the patterns look more interesting. You may choose various patterns such as stars, flowers, sky or even some mini scenery of nature, etc.
Finally, the contour of the last pattern is finished. As you can see, I have applied different colors of the contour, it will look more attractive than one-color work. Now we shall wait until the contours are dry. The paint gets dry for 30 minutes.
Now we start the most interesting and responsible step – painting the area inside contours. You should wash the brush thoroughly before applying the next color. To apply the paint on the glass you need to water the brush slightly so that only one drop of water would be on the brush. Then you choose the color and dip your brush into the paint. Be sure you took enough paint. While applying the paint we touch the glass with the brush and the paint layer should be thick to fill the space inside. Now you see why we had to apply thick contour. Our contour shall serve us as a frame border, so to say, to hold the paint that is poured inside.
Here is the first result of our manipulations. Watch out the amount of paint, too thick layer may exceed the border frame. You may apply one thin, almost transparent layer of paint or you may make a thick layer by repeating a thin layer three times after each one is dry.
Pattern by patter you gradually fill all the contours. But wait at least for 5 minutes, until each pattern gets dry and you can start the next one. Under the word “pattern” I mean the whole piece. While painting each segment inside the pattern apply much effort not to mix the colors, otherwise you will not be able to change anything. The only way out will be to peel off the whole pattern and to clean the area with the spirit. So it is better to be accurate!
Well, we completed painting the cup and it is fully dry, it gets dry for 40 minutes. But now we notice that it lacks some detail. So let’s go on!
The last and final step is applying small dots around all the space of the cup. The dots are applied with contour paint. Please, hold the cup the same way I showed in the third step. It would be more convenient to decorate the cup ear if you put the cup on the table and apply the dots with accurate touches. After the dots are applied, let them dry for 20 minutes. That’s all, our cute cup is done!
