How to cook delicious stewed pork with onions
It should be the easiest meat dish which can be cooked, excluding boiled one. However, in order to be sure that the meat is going to be soft and juicy we should know some fine points. Usually I stew the pork the following way.
- Pork flesh – 1.5 lb
- Onion – 1 big piece
- Vinegar – 3 tbsp
- Salt, pepper, bay leaf, spices to your taste
- Cooking oil for frying
Cut the pork into pieces of medium size.
Cut the onion into half rings.
Make the simple marinade out of cold water and vinegar in proportion 1:10 approximately. Put chopped onion into the marinade. Thanks to this simple procedure pungent smell of onions will be removed and the meat will have the odor of barbecue.
Fry the meat in a small amount of oil until you see the golden crust. You should warm up the frying pan very well before you are going to put the meat onto it.
When you see that the meat is roasted you should add onion, salt, pepper and spices into the frying pan. I used bay leaf, pepper and dried basil.
Stir the mixture until you see that onions become golden.
During this time the meat doesn’t become fully roasted that is why we should add some cold water for it to cover the meat up to the middle.
Keep on stewing the meat without covering it. Don’t forget to flip it occasionally. You can repeat this procedure if the water evaporates but the meat still remains tough. Anyway try not to use too much water.
That is all! Stewed meat with onions is ready. The meat shouldn’t be over stewed or tough. The water should turn into a small amount of fragrant gravy.
This meat can be eaten with any garnish and still be very tasty. Enjoy your meal!
- The water that we add into the meat should be cold. I don’t know why but it makes the dish tastier.
