Having baked the meat under the mayonnaise sauce in so many various ways, finally I came to a very good recipe out of those recipes that are simple and not demanding. It is even not the recipe but a culinary idea. Irreplaceable ingredient here is the meat only; all other ingredients including mayonnaise can be substituted at your wish. You can use the vegetables you have in stock including the leftovers of the frozen vegetable mixtures. You get a very tasty result of your culinary experiment.

You´ll need

  • Meat (pork, chicken or turkey) 17-25 oz (0.5-0.7 kg)
  • Vegetables of any kind – up to 35 oz (1 kg)
  • Mayonnaise – ½ glass
  • Mustard – 1 tbsp
  • Hard cheese (any kind) – 3.5 oz (100 g)
  • Seed oil – 1-2 tbsp
  • Baking form

Steps

    Cut the meat chops 0.4 inches (1 cm) thick. In my case it is pork but I don’t chop it. You may not chop chicken or turkey either. If the meat is harder, for example beef, then it is better to chop it a little. Oil the bottom of the baking form and put the meat closely together.

    Over the meat we spread out a layer of finely chopped onion.

    Then we cover the meat with the vegetable “coat” itself. In my case these are finely chopped sweet pepper, tomatoes, and leftovers of the frozen vegetable mixture bought in the grocery store. It looks bright and beautiful.

    In a big cup we mix ½ glass of mayonnaise, leftovers of the sour cream if you can find in your fridge any, and mustard.

    Add to the mixture some salt, pepper, greens and all your favorite spices. Stir everything and add some water to make a sufficient quantity of the sauce to cover our vegetables.

    Pour the ready-made sauce over the meat with vegetables. As you can see it covers the vegetable layer almost completely. That’s all, you may put the form into the oven heated to 300-350 F (150-180 C).

    In 40 minutes we take out the form and cover the dish with the grated cheese, after we put it back into the oven to bake for 20 minutes more. Here you can see how the ready-baked dish looks like. It is very tasty and almost dietetic! Bon appetite!

Warnings

  • I have already mentioned that the vegetables can be of any kind, at your taste, including even different sorts of cabbage. If you combine the vegetables in the right way, then you get a bright and beautiful meat dish that can be a perfect detail of the festive table for a special occasion.
