How to make a toy striped kitty
A cuddly toy can be made without a sewing machine. In this case you don’t even need any special tailor’s super skills.
- Viscose fabric
- Polyester batting
- Mouline thread
First of all you should make a gauge: draw a cat figure on a piece of pasteboard (it is desired not to accentuate small details). Scissor it out by contour.
I’ve chosen the viscose fabric as basic material – it is sold as wipes for moist mopping. You will also need some polyester batting. The materials should be put in layers: viscose, polyester batting, viscose.
Put the gauge on the material you’ve prepared and contour the cat’s figure.
In order to make the further scissoring easier, it would be useful to fasten the layers with a tailor pin – this way the fabric won’t sprawl.
Cut it everything together. However, it is possible to cut out all three details separately and then to apply one on another.
Sew all the layers of material with the glover’s stitch.
As a result you’ve got such a well-padded kitty. Now you have only to embroider the smaller details.
Now use the chain stitch.
This way you will embroider ears, claws, the fur on the chest and tail, eyes and nose on the snout.
Do exactly the same on the reverse side, and your kitty is ready!
- I’ve used the mouline thread for embroidery.
