How to make snack pellets of beet and herring
We all know and love the herring under a fur coat salad. There are numerous variations of this dish, only the main ingredients remain the same – the herring and beet. The snack pellets are considered to be one of the variants of the traditional dressed herring, but they are more suitable for the holiday table.
- Beets – 2 pieces
- Potatoes – 2 pieces
- Carrots – 2 pieces
- Eggs – 3 pieces
- Herring fillet – 5 oz (150 g)
- Hard or processed cheese – 3.5 oz (100 g)
Boil and peel the vegetables and shell the eggs.
Chop the herring finely, grate the other ingredients.
Mix it all, add the salt and mayonnaise. Add as much mayonnaise as needed to make the mass flexible in order to make the pellets of it.
Make the pellets, put them on a plate and then leave it in the fridge for 1-2 hours. Decorate them with mayonnaise before serving.
Sprinkle the pellets with the green stuff. These beet and herring pellets are prepared much more quickly than the traditional herring salad, when you have to spread all the ingredients in layers.
You should decorate the pellets with mayonnaise immediately before serving, as the beet juice will quickly change the colour of mayonnaise.
- I don’t like onion in salads, so, I didn’t add it.
- You can add chopped walnuts in the pellets, you can also put some bigger pieces of herring in the middle. There are numerous variants of this snack, but in any case it is delicious.
