How to make a pie made of liver for snacks
Preparing liver pie is very easy and even a beginner can learn to cook this fast. Liver is not simply an ingredient in the preparation of tasty dishes. It contains folic acid, vitamins, mineral substances and amino acids. Liver is useful to pregnant women, children and also for people who are sick with diabetes and atherosclerosis.
- Liver – 1 pound (0.5 kg.)
- Eggs – 2 pieces
- Wheat flour – 1 cup
- Milk – 0.4 pints (200 g.)
- Onions – 1 piece
- Garlic – 3-4 pieces
- Mayonnaise – 1 pack
- Fresh cucumbers – 2 pieces
- Parsley greens
- Salt, black ground pepper
- Sunflower oil
After cleaning liver very well (you can use pork liver or even chicken) cut the liver into small slices and used a meat grinder to grind it. It is also possible to use a blender if this is more convenient for you.
Add the eggs into the grinded liver and mix it very thoroughly.
The next ingredient for our liver pie is a wheat flour. Add the flour gradually; you need a spoon to get rid of lumps, you need to care about all lamps to get a smooth blend.
After ensuring that the mixture has been well blended, pour in milk and once again we mix everything to make it smooth and ready for making a pie.
If it you need more milk aside from the amount specified in the recipe, you may still add. The consistency of dough has to be a little more dense, compared to dough for pancakes.
At this time you need to prepare the onions. Peel the onions and to cut into very small pieces. Fry it with sunflower oil until get a translucent, soft consistency.
Add onions in the liver mixture and once again mix everything very well. Add salt and pepper to taste and afterwards the dough is ready.
Take a frying pan, pour in it a little sunflower oil and when the oil is hot, spread on it several tbsp of our dough. Smooth out the dough as if you are frying or making pancakes.
Make pancakes out of the dough, fry both sided and make sure that you do not cook these more than 2 minutes or the dough will become too hard, rubbery and rigid.
Use a fresh cucumber for stuffing. Cut it into small straws. Clean garlic and crush it, wash parsley greens and cut it into small pieces. Mix all these ingredients together with mayonnaise and stir it up.
Now make a whole pie. Take one cake layer (i mean fried pancakes), put it on a tray and grease the layer from above with the ready made cucumber stuffing. do not forget the edges. Put the second cake layer from above and press down slightly to let the layers stick together. Do this until several cake layers are created (5-8 layers will be enough usually). Don´t forget to grease the top layer too. You can cover the top layer with grated hard boiled eggs as an option. Now the liver pie is ready to be served.
When the pie is ready, it is necessary to give it time to stick layers together, one hour would be great.
- If your liver pancakes turned out too fat, blot them with a paper napkin, it will remove excessive oil from the cake layers.
- Slightly fried onions will help to avoid dough sticking to a frying pan and make a taste of the pie more delicious.
